Jacques Ellul (1912-1994) a French philosopher, educator, theologian and prolific author, served for many years as professor of history and sociology at the University of Bordeaux. His religious affiliation was with the French Reformed Church, but his interest in the Pentecostal movement gained him invitations as guest lecturer at the French Assemblies of God Bible school in Leognan. Stotts, an AG educator and missionary, recalls his friendship with Ellul and states that Ellul was interested in joining the French Assemblies of God in the 1930s or 1940s.
